How does Pokédex scanning work?
Nexus Dex uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to read text from your screen as you scroll through your Pokémon GO Pokédex. Pokédex numbers and whether Pokémon are registered, seen, or not registered are read from the pixels on screen. The live screen is never saved, stored, or uploaded, and we never see your screen. What the scan produces — the dex numbers and their caught state — is saved to your account so your Dex follows you to a new device. See the privacy policy for exactly what is stored.
Do I need to play Pokémon GO?
Yes. Nexus Dex is a companion app. It reads your existing Pokémon GO collection so you can organise trades and track events. You play Pokémon GO normally and use Nexus Dex alongside.
Is my data private?
Scanning runs entirely on your device. No ad trackers, no third-party analytics SDKs, no data sales. The only data that leaves your phone is what you choose to share with a friend. Read the full privacy policy.
What does Pro unlock?
Unlimited friends and trade matches, your Pokémon against the meta Top 10 by type with the move-sets to run, scan history with quick undo, restoring your Nexus Dex and Pokémon on a new phone, a Wish List your friends can see, which Pokémon you are missing in every event, renaming Pokémon as you scan, Pokémon GO search strings you can copy, and team colours for the whole app. The full list is above. No. Nexus Dex is an independent app built by a Pokémon GO collector for collectors. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, or Niantic.
