What is the best Pokémon GO companion app?

It depends on the job. For IV checking and remote raid matchmaking, Poke Genie is the long-standing choice on iOS and Android, and Calcy IV on Android. For tracking your whole Pokédex, comparing it with friends and finding the trades that complete it, Nexus Dex is the only app that does this from a live screen scan, and it includes an IV checker. Campfire is Niantic's official app for the map, raids and social features.

Is Nexus Dex a replacement for Poke Genie?

For IV checks, yes: Nexus Dex reads CP, IVs and moves live from the in-game appraisal and gives Great, Ultra and Master League rank, and it imports Poke Genie CSV exports. For remote raid matchmaking, no: Nexus Dex does not organise raids.

Which Pokémon GO apps are safe to use?

Where each app wins

Poke Genie has years of IV-reading accuracy behind it, the biggest remote raid lobby, and Android support today. If raids are your game, keep it. Calcy IV is the Android overlay purists prefer, with a battle simulator Nexus Dex does not have. Campfire is the official map and social layer and the only one with stop and gym data. Nexus Dex is the only one that knows your Pokédex, your friends' Pokédexes, and the trades between them. It also checks IVs, so for most trainers it replaces one app rather than adding one.
